johnkg Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 When I unlock my car with the remote all the doors unlock automatically except the Tail door, I have to open this one with the key. I'm pretty certain this is due to the locking wires having frayed in the rubber sleeve at the top between the taildoor and the car itself. Question is: Does the wire run on the left or right hand sleeve as you look into the car from the tailgate? And how hard do I have to pull to detach the sleeve, I've done it once before but can't remember the procedure. Quote
Guest andypenn Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 HiAre you sure you have not just disabled the remote locking on the tailgate I thing you have to turn the key into a cirtain position to enable the central locking, as the tailgate lock is electronic I dont think a frayed wire would cause this. Guest MATT Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 i was thinking if there is a 'triger' wire for the locking, from the control unit? and if it had got damaged? MATT Quote
johnkg Posted June 9, 2005 Author Report Posted June 9, 2005 Hmmm, You've both got me thinking. If I manually turn the key in the tailgate the lights flash and the other door locks open/close accordingly. Is there a way that the tailgate can be 'taken out' of the automatic unlocking/locking cycle? Or Is there a fuse involved somewhere  (see my post about courtesy lights)? Or is there a 'trigger' wire? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 If I manually turn the key in the tailgate the lights flash and the other door locks open/close accordingly. That means that the wires to the tailgate are OK, so you have probably just accidentally disengaged the tailgate from the central locking system. Is there a way that the tailgate can be 'taken out' of the automatic unlocking/locking cycle? Yes - see handbook (mine's tucked away safely) Quote
johnkg Posted June 13, 2005 Author Report Posted June 13, 2005 Just checked my manual and there is no mention of taking the tailgate out of the loop (that I can find!). I think this relates to me having a 97 spec manual and a 98 spec Galaxy. Does anyone have the sequence? thanks in advance John Quote
